I created a Bluesky account last week, and I must say—it’s been a pleasant surprise. There’s something deeply refreshing about not having to constantly censor my photos, wondering if or when I’ll face penalties for simply sharing my work.
Even better, there’s no algorithm deciding which fraction of my followers gets to see my work. What I post is out there for everyone who’s chosen to follow me, and that feels honest and straightforward—exactly what social media should be.
Bluesky feels like a mix of Instagram and X, but with a much smaller artistic nude photography community for now. That’s okay, though—spaces like this often take time to grow, and I enjoy the intimacy it offers.
Some say Bluesky has less toxicity, but to be honest, I don’t encounter much negativity on other platforms either. Still, the overall vibe here is calm, open, and inviting—something I appreciate.
I’m happy to have found this corner of the digital world and look forward to connecting with more like-minded people there. Maybe I’ll see you on Bluesky soon?
Enjoy your weekend!
Ilvy Kokomo
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of working with the incredible Ilvy Kokomo. I haven’t had the chance to dive into editing the full set of photos yet, but here’s one I couldn’t wait to share with you.
